In 2016, Joseph Wright's remarkable painting A Philosopher Giving that Lecture on the Orrery, in which a Lamp is put in the Place of the Sun, which hangs in Derby Museum, will be 250 years old. To commemorate it, we putting together workshops and an activity day for schools. In 2013 Andy appeared in many schools in the city as the great artist. The activity day will give you the chance to meet Joseph Wright again, as well as his friend, clockmaker, John Whitehurst. Central to the day will be a freely available illustrated story about the painting.
